We are looking for…

A hands-on Non-Financial Risk Control Specialist to join a strategic, organisation-wide End-to-End Non-Financial Risk programme within a major banking environment.

The programme has a high regulatory and strategic priority, with an immediate need for additional contracting capacity.

You will focus on the optimisation and clean-up of Risk & Control Frameworks, building on existing gap analysis and preliminary guidance. You will work with stakeholders across the organisation to improve control design, close identified gaps and strengthen the overall risk and control framework.

• Optimised and cleaned-up Risk & Control Frameworks.

• Identified control gaps addressed and controls improved or redesigned where required.

• Clearer and more robust standards, guidelines and procedures.

• Supporting training and communication materials for relevant stakeholders.

• Improved alignment between Risk, Control Owners, Policy/Risk Type Owners and BaU teams.

About the role

As a Non-Financial Risk Control Specialist, you will be responsible for helping optimise and improve risk and control frameworks across selected areas of the organisation.

You will:

• Follow up on existing analysis of control gaps and preliminary guidance.

• Perform detailed review and clean-up of existing controls.

• Identify opportunities to improve control design and effectiveness.

• Help redesign and strengthen Risk & Control Frameworks.

• Work with 1st Line Control Owners to improve and implement controls.

• Collaborate with Policy/Risk Type Owners, BaU risk teams and other programme workstreams.

• Translate identified gaps into practical improvements to controls, standards, guidelines and procedures.

• Contribute to the development of relevant training and stakeholder communication.

• Support alignment between different stakeholders involved in the risk and control lifecycle.

• Work within relevant GRC workflows to support the implementation and optimisation of controls.

Who are you?

You have solid experience within Non-Financial Risk, Risk & Control or Governance, ideally within a banking environment. You understand how risk and control frameworks operate in practice and are comfortable working hands-on with control design, gaps and effectiveness.

Experience & knowledge:

• Proven knowledge of key banking processes.

• Strong experience building, implementing or optimising Non-Financial Risk & Control Frameworks.

• Strong understanding of control design.

• Experience with control effectiveness and control testing.

• Strong knowledge of GRC workflows.

• Experience identifying and remediating control gaps.

• Ability to work effectively with 1st Line, Risk, Policy Owners and other stakeholders.

• Experience working in a regulatory or risk transformation environment is highly relevant.
