Senior Data Engineer – Business Intelligence in Utrecht

Are you an experienced Senior Data Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in PySpark and Databricks, combined with a solid understanding of analytical data modelling? You enjoy working with existing data structures, improving them where needed and building reliable data solutions that support reporting, analytics and business decision-making. You are comfortable taking ownership of technical deliverables while working closely with business and technical stakeholders in an Agile environment.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO

• Design, develop and maintain reliable data pipelines and analytical datasets using PySpark and Databricks.
• Review, modify and improve existing data models to meet changing business and reporting requirements.
• Design analytical data models, including dimensional models and star schemas, and develop data products for BI and analytics.
• Translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable and user-friendly data solutions while collaborating with Business Analysts and engineers.
• Contribute to the modernisation of the wider BI and data landscape and work independently while remaining an active member of an Agile environment.

AN IDEAL PROFILE WOULD BE

• Substantial hands-on experience as a Data Engineer or Senior Data Engineer, with strong practical experience in PySpark and Databricks.
• Demonstrable experience designing, changing and maintaining analytical data models, with a strong understanding of dimensional modelling and star schemas.
• Experience creating datasets or data products used for business intelligence, reporting and analytics.
• Strong stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to understand existing data structures and determine how they should be changed or redesigned.
• Professional fluency in English; experience with Power BI, Databricks dashboards and/or banking, financial services or large enterprise environments is a plus.
