QRT
Supporting high-performance compute talent delivery in a fast-scaling hedge fund environment

The Business Challenge
Qube Research Technologies was scaling rapidly and under pressure
to strengthen the infrastructure supporting its quantitative trading
environment. Existing IT systems could not handle the volume and
performance demands being generated, creating a need to pivot quickly
towards high-performance compute technologies.
This created both operational and commercial risk. If the right capabilities
were not secured, system constraints could impact trading activity and
slow growth.
As a business still scaling at pace, internal teams did not have sufficient
contractor scale or access to the specialist talent needed to meet demand
quickly.
The Solution
Levy partnered with QRT to provide access to highly niche technology
professionals aligned to the client’s performance and infrastructure
requirements.
Delivery focused on quality over volume. Candidates were screened
rigorously for continuity, technical capability and fit, with only a small
proportion progressing to client review.
Levy worked closely with the Quantitative Technology Director and Head
of Contingent Sourcing, maintaining regular contact to support active
requirements, interview processes and contractor extensions.
The engagement was supported through a network-led delivery model,
with specialist profiles funneled through a tight delivery process and
validated through right-to-work checks, reference checks and profile
verification.
Roles delivered included Golang Engineers, DevSecOps Engineers, IAM
Engineers, Grafana Consultants, Linux Engineers, SREs, Security Engineers,
Platform Engineers, Hardware Engineers and Test Managers.
This approach helped reduce delivery risk while providing QRT with
access to hard-to-find talent at speed
Delivery Highlights
Outcomes & Impact
Delivery & Capability
- Supported QRT’s move towards high-performance compute capability
through access to niche infrastructure and engineering talent. - Helped strengthen delivery capacity in an environment where speed
and technical precision were critical. - Provided an alternative to an incumbent consultancy model that had
not been delivering as required.
Capacity & Talent Access
- Enabled QRT to access specialist “Swiss Army knife” profiles in a highly
competitive talent market. - Reduced reliance on broader supplier models by delivering hard-to-find
contractors through Levy’s network. - Supported growth into adjacent areas including data centre, identity
access management and security.
Continuity & Stability
- Built an engagement model based on regular communication, close
stakeholder contact and ongoing contractor support. - Supported continuity through long-term contractor relationships and
a model that allowed contractors to convert internally after 12 months
where appropriate.
